However, his surprise to ruin the surprise back-fired on him a bit because J.D. got really upset that we didn't get to do the big surprise.
After the "surprise," we all (our little family, Jim's mom, Jim's brother Mike, Jim's brother Greg, Jim's sister Tina and her husband and four kids, and my parents) had a fun weekend together with lots of activities:
Foosball
Rock Band
Fun in the backyard
Tennis, swimming, a picnic, and playing at the park
Dog-piling

On Saturday evening, we tried another surprise and I think this one worked a bit better. A few close friends came to the door and we had Jim open a present. Inside were tickets and food vouchers for all of us to go to the Round Rock Express baseball game. There was also a T-shirt with the following logo on the front:

and a Round Rock Express logo on the back. Jim was instructed to put the shirt on and we would go to the game. As you can see, there were shirts for all of us to wear, so we could make a proper spectacle at the game. (Janalynn even got her own little pink Express shirt.) We had a great time watching the game, eating, and hanging out at the stadium.

The whole group:
Sunday after church, we had everyone over for dinner and cake. We mourned the loss of Jim's youth:

and he opened his presents. He got some games and movies and a Blu-Ray player, plus a new thermometer and clock for the back deck.
After such a fun and crazy weekend, his real birthday next week is going to be pretty boring. Thanks to everyone for coming to visit and celebrate!!!
