That night, we had his favorite food for dinner (pizza) and put six candles in the pizza for him to blow out on his actual birthday.
His party with friends was on Thursday. He wanted a Star Wars party at home and he and I came up with some games we could do. We made light sabers out of old gift wrap tubes, duct tape, and paint, then hit balloons with them. (Luckily the wildly unpredictable weather was nice and warm on Thursday and we were able to be outside with the wild and crazy boys for most of the party.) Thanks to Jeannie, Kristine, and Katrina for their help with the party!
J.D. came up with the game to "Pin the light saber on the Star Wars Character."
He had a Death Star cake with some characters around it. (Thanks Alison.)
Finally, he got some great presents. He got lots of Star Wars characters, a movie, and costumes and some other games and activities. But his big present was a result of his YouTube discovery. He and Jim saw this R2-D2 "toy" and Jim got it for him. He loves it! He even takes it to his room almost every night to "sleep" with him. This video clip shows that it doesn't always work perfectly and how we all don't always get along so well--it's reality!!!

Happy Birthday J.D!!! You have the best birthday date out there :) Hope you had a wonderful day!!!!
Very creative!! Alex is also in a huge Star Wars phase right now, as well. Did you make the cake with the Pampered Chef Mixing bowl?? Also, where did you find that R2D2? Alex would "die" to have that. Happy birthday J.D.!!
What a fun time! Tosh has one of those R2-D2s from many years ago but he hasn't turned it on in a couple of years because William is scared to death of it. :) Maybe he will love it in another year or so.
Hey good to see you too. You're boys are adorable! Looks like you have a little girl on the way...How exciting that must be.
I loved calling the girls over to check out the party. Rave reviews, by the way! And I cannot get over how much he looks like Jim!
Wow! My son would love to have a Star Wars party. (he's said he wanted one for the last two years) His birthday is next week. Perhaps I'll change the plans now. . . :)
