This first picture was taken about midmorning before all the snow that did stick had fallen.
Jim happened to be home to play with us because he had jury duty yesterday and was dismissed from the jury in time to be home when J.D. got home from school. Here's our whole family with a small snowman the kids made in the neighbor's yard. (Joey was sneezing, but this is the best pic we got.) We only took Janalynn outside for a few minutes to take some pictures, then whisked her back inside out of the cold.
At first, I couldn't convince Joey to put his hat and gloves on, but once he got outside in the cold, he was happy to let me.
After lots of fun playing with the neighbors, Jim and the boys went in the backyard and built a snowman. We used a baby carrot for the nose and jellybeans for the eyes and mouth. (Jake suggested using olives for the eyes and mouth, but I didn't want to open a can of olives just for that.) The boys decided to name the snowman "Goofball."

Twenty-four hours later, it is a balmly 50 degrees outside and here is all that remains of the snow:
So long, Goofball!
After playing in the snow everyone came in, shed their wet clothes, and we roasted marshmellows in front of the fire. J.D. kept saying, "This is the BEST day ever!"
Because the wet snow was melting and it was going to freeze last night, they delayed school by two hours this morning (which meant Jake's and Joey's preschools were both cancelled), so we got to sleep in a little and watch the snow melt. This only happens about every 25 years in this part of Texas, so it was fun to enjoy with everyone.
